Baby, Chop Chop, Skeeter

Baby, an adorable cockatiel entered Parrot Haven along with 4 parrotlets. Her owner was elderly and had a difficult time walking, much less take care of the 6 birds that she owned. ("Mom" kept a conure, hoping she can take care of just one bird.) She would be devastated to lose all her birds that she has loved for so long. "Mom" was a former bird breeder and is very knowledgeble with the care of birds. Baby, the cockatiel was adopted by one of my coworkers with the intent of placing the bird with her brothers' daughter, Ashley, in Virginia. Baby enjoyed the long drive to her new home and is very content. Baby's "Mom" and her new owners have had many long distance conversationsShe has adapted well and is extremely happy in her new home especially with Ashley's dad. Captain & Little Girl, not pictured, two parrotlets, were placed before their pics could be taken and are in the good hands of a members' family. Chop Chop recently appeared on NBC's Weekend Today at the invite of Pet Expert, Warren Eckstein. Chop Chop had the tip of his beak bitten off by an overzealous parent when he was a new born, but does well despite his handicap. Both birds enjoy scrambled eggs, millet and corn. Skeeter & Chop Chop must be placed together. Each bird comes with their own cage. "Mom" wants them to go together, even though they cannot be placed together in one cage. They have been "neighbors" for 12 years and miss each other when separated. "Mom" is very concerned about all her birds and would want telephone contact with the adoptive parents.
